I'm Alive and Well...

just wanted to pop in and tell people I have been busier than I have ever been in my 18 year career...I think I will finally get my head above water by year's end. In the meantime, I have had to cut back on a lot of blogging and net browsing in general. I can't talk about all the stuff I am working on besides All-Star Batman and Robin but once I can blab about the projects, you guys will get the 411 asap.
In the meantime, here is a piece I found in the closet. Long ago, back when Stan Lee was doing the Reimagining of the DC core characters (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, et al), Rolling Stone approached me about doing an illo for an interview Kevin Smith was going to conduct with Stan Lee.
For various reasons which escape my memory-challenged mind, I couldn't do it, but managed to do this concept sketch for the piece I had in mind. You see Stan's versions of Superman and Wonder Woman (the book I drew actually--ironically the first big project I did for DC was with Mighty Marvel Stan the Man himself heh). Anyway, I am pretty sure I was superjammed on deadlines, much like today, and by the time I sent this shot in, the deadline ship had sailed. Which happens more than you think. So many cool projects missed out on just cause of lack of time. I know that's the mutant power I would want...the ability to stop time. Just so I could get my deadlines done...ok I will have more Monday. Back to the salt mines for me...

That'd be the illest mutant power to have, I swear. I'd even give up my sense of smell or taste for it. :D Glad to read you're still alive and kickin', Jim.
Peace...

Don't worry about the blog, it's been in great hands!
hi, jim
love your work, but lately why do you keep drawing batman's belt upside down (unless he's a leftie) and with a non-functional spoke and buckle? :)
