Carlitos Toy Fund!!!

[Carlitos]

Hey y'alls, all of us here at the studio are 'revvin' the engines' with both fear and happiness at the inevitable arrival of the Con... a few more days and BOOM... madness starts once again! (^_^)

Anyway, I had a few days without nutty deadlines so it gave me time to work on a few pieces before the show, and yup, they are all available for sale for anyone interested in giving to the 'Carlitos Toy Fund' some umhhh.... well, funds! ...I will have all these with me at the show if you're interested.

peace,

Carlitos.

p.s. The 'Hulk vs. Thing' piece still needs a liiiiittle bit more work, but you get the idea! :)

Comic-Con isn't a joke, ya'lls...

[Oliver]

Hello everyone, hope all is well and hope those of you who are going to Comic-Con are ready for the non-stop craziness! All of us artist's here at Wildstorm are scrambling to get things ready for the show, we'll probably be scrambling to the last minute;)

Anyhoo, I posted this 'Joker' piece I did a lil while back and my bud Eddie Nunez did a fantastic job of coloring it and we'll be selling it as an exclusive 'Comic-Con 09' print, the first one that I've done that way. There will only be fifty printed and numbered, so stop on by and get yers, if not, stop on by and say hi!

Hope to see you guys!

Cap and Bucky

[Nuñez]

Here's another pre-done piece for the San Diego Comic-Con. I've never drawn Cap and Bucky together and I gotta say it was a lot of fun, kinda like doing Batman and Robin.

I've been trying to get better at my graytone pieces, especially when you see the madness that Carlos D'anda pulls out of his @$$. That bastard!!

Anyways, I know I haven't been posting as much as I should be and I will try and post more often, till then hope y'all digz and peace out.

Inkist

[Scott Williams]

Hey Folks! I'm Scott Williams and I'm the newest member here to join Wildstorm! I'm still trying to learn everyones names here, but so far everyone has been really nice to me, and I've already learned a lot! Can't wait to find out what Mr. Lee has in mind for me to do around here, but if I can even clean up his eraser shavings, it would be an honor! Gosh, does Mr. Lee ever even need to erase, or does he get it right the first time every time???.....

OK, so I'm just screwing around. I'm not the newest member here, just the last guy on the planet to jump on board this old rust bucket of a blog. Anybody out there? Is my microphone on? Anyway, with San Diego Comic-con coming up, I wanted to personally invite anybody going to the show to come by Artists Alley, say hi, and confirm that I actually do exist. I also put together a little art book where I do my inky thing on guys with last names other than Lee. If you were ever curious about how I might handle guys like Jack Kirby, Neal Adams, Joe Madureira, Frank Quietly, Bill Sienkiewicz and lots of other comic greats, come by, check it out, and confirm to yourself and the world that I am not a figment of Jim Lee's imagination.

And yes Jim erases. A lot.

Peace.
Scott

SNIKT, I say!!! SNIKT!!!!

[Carlitos]

Hey y'alls, how's it going!?! ...maaaaan, I can't believe it's time for the San Diego Comic-Con again?!? ...where the hell does the time go?!? The Con is one of those 'love hate' things for me. It's four, non-stop days of insanity, BUT it's also a 'family reunion' of sorts for people in the industry, so it's always really cool to reconnect with friends (both professionals and fans) during those four days.

Another really cool thing about hanging out in 'artist's alley' is seeing what the other Pros brought with 'em, the new prints, new sketchbooks, shirts, etc.  I always look forward to seeing what the 'Big Guns' bring: Arthur Adams, Mignola, Jason Pearson, Adam Hughes, Dave Johnson etc., but there is always the brand new 'hidden jewel' you find, that's the BEST. Robert Valley was one of those finds for me...one of these guys whose work is AMAZING, just not very known in comic-dom. One of these people that make you think about drawing from a totally different perspective!!! So here's to finding that 'hidden jewel' at this upcoming show!!!

...Oh yeah, this here is a good ol' 'Weapon X' I just finished for a very patient fan! ...Hope you dig it Michael! :)

SDCC 2009 Map

[Eddy]

It's that crazy time of year again, with Comic-Con just around the corner, anything can happen! For starters, we're a little more spread out this year, but this handy map should help find us all:

DD-14 Carlos D’Anda
DD-15 Eduardo Nuñez
DD-16 Oliver Nome
DD-17 Michael Lopez
DD-18 Juvaun “JJ” Kirby

While most of us will be in Artist's Alley again this year, Jim will be sitting with the "Naked Fat Rave" group of artists in booth #4601. NFR includes such talents as Arthur Adams, J. Scott Campbell, Joyce Chin, Amanda Conner, David Finch, Phil Noto, Bruce Timm and Matt Wagner.

Hope to see you all there!

Celeritas & 100 Bullets

[Eddy]

Jim Lee just illustrated a new piece for his buddy, Joe Hahn of "Linkin Park," to benefit the "Riders for Health" charity. The custom-decorated motorcycle helmet will be on display at Joe's store, SURU in LA from July 12th from 12:00-8:00pm through August 16th as part of the "Celeritas" exhibition.

Tomorrow night, Jim will be attending the private reception held at the store where they'll be auctioning off his heavenly/devilish helmet, including others by James Jean, Alex Pardee, Barry McGee and more. And for the artheads out there, the art has been sealed with a spray fixative to keep it all together.

Since that's not open to the public, you can still catch Jim at the "100 Bullets: Last Shot" party thrown by Meltdown Comics earlier in the day, to help celebrate the release of the final 100 Bullets tpb, "Wilt," in-stores now. He'll be joining Brian Azzarello and Rev. Dave Johnson as they bid a fond farewell to Vertigo's modern day crime classic.

Say goodbye to Graves, Dizzy and my favorite, Lono in style with the creators and all kinds of store exclusives too. VIP or Standing-Room-Only tickets are sure to sell-out before the event, so order yours now!

The Artist is 'In'

[Eddy]

This month's issue of San Diego Family Magazine has an article on Jeannie Schulz, wife of Peanuts creator Charles Schulz, and one of our very own inkers, Sandra Hope. The complete article begins on page 46 and a brief bio of her start in comics is on page 48, including what makes her "smile to no end."

Sandra will also be in Artist's Alley this year, with her inking tools ready to ink or even sign a few comics.

Red Monika

[Lopez]

For anyone not familiar with Battle Chasers, this is the curvacious Red Monika. I think she was a bounty hunter in the series from WildStorm? Anyhow, I'm not totally familiar with the series, but she seems to be pretty well known.

In the trade, there was a shot of her riding a sorta shark/stingray creature that I thought was too cool! This angle in not the most flattering for the "strata ray" shark thing, but as far as Monika was concerned the angle worked just fine.

I wanted the the camera angle to feel like you were the lucky dog riding beside our fearless heroine.

Anyhow, hope this works. See ya in San Diego!!
