Fenix Rising

[Joel]

Hey all, just wanted to post a piece I had done of one of my all-time favorite video games...Gears of War. Last week, at the New York Comic Con -I got the opportunity to chat it up with Michael Capps-president of Epic Games, and Joshua Ortega- a friend of mine who happens to be writing the storyline for Gears II and boy, am I excited for November!

Normally for me, November means great turkey eats and football goodness (Go Packers!), but this year with the release of Gears II at the same time, something's gotta give...oh, well...Thanksgiving comes every year...I'm sure there will be leftovers...somewhere!

"Emma Frost" The Remix

[Nome]

Hey yall's, hows it going? First of all, thanks to everyone who stopped by artist's alley in NY to say "Hi", chat, and of course spend money:) It was great to finally meet a bunch of fans who have gotten commissions from me throughout the year and put faces to the names.

Here is a piece I did for pick up at the NY show. They wanted my version of "Emma Frost" who happens to be my favorite X-character, so I was thrilled to do it. It ain't coincidence that she also resembles my favorite real life person....hmmmm? You figure it out. Hope you like:)

New York, New York!

[Eddy]

(From top to bottom) Jim Lee & Stan Lee, Oliver Nome & Grant Morrison, Joel Gomez & Gabriele Dell'Otto and Oliver Coipel & JJ Kirby.

Has it been a week since the show already? The show's all a big blur now, except for the photos of new friends, old friends and just good times all around.

The weather was great. The fans were great. And New York is about as different from San Diego as you could get, so it was a great change of pace too. After the show, we also took a tour around DC Comics thanks to Kevin Kiniry, DC's manager of licensing who was very generous with his time. Thanks again Kevin!

Back at the con, I don't think I saw half as much as I wanted to or caught up with everyone there, so I'm still reading all the online news from the show just like everyone else who couldn't make it there. Usually, I just stay on the con floor around Artist's Alley, so I rarely make it out to any of the newsworthy panels.

Well, I'm all out of words, but you can see more of my comic creator pics from the Big Apple here.

Can't wait to do it all again next year!

Envoking the Spirit

[Mike]

Hey there folks, here is a commission I just finished of Scarlet Witch and the Vision.

I thought I'd do some more black and white high contrast stuff using just a pencil for that tonal look. Working with the Ebony pencil is a lot of fun and I got hooked on it from the last Wonder Woman piece I did. I just love how rich and black it is.

Hope y'all dig it.

2 Batmans

entry ricH

It's been a little while and I know a lot of the guys are traveling right now so I figured I'd pop in and say hello.

I can't even remember if I ever showed these here so I apologize if I did. I was hired a few months back....(or was it last year?) To do some re-envisioning on some of Jim's All-Star Batman stuff. They basically needed new versions with subtle changes to use on shirts or ads etc. It's part of DC licensing and they are interesting jobs when you get them.

I basically re-penciled these doing all the body type changes (they wanted a leaner Batman), switching of the Bat symbol, smoother less crazed face, basically whatever changes they felt the pieces needed (sometimes it's finishing a cropped drawing) for the product they are going to be using it on. After they are penciled you go through the approval process doing any last minute changes, and then I was green lit to ink them.

anyway here's the finished pieces. For anyone interested in collecting original art, the piece on the left is on e bay now:

I LUV NY!

Hey yall's, New York Comic-Con is just a few days away, can't wait! If any of you attend, definately stop by and say "Hi" to all of us in artist's alley. I went to the NY show the first year and it was crazy busy, hopefully it's just as packed if not more.

Here is a pre-sold Zealot commission I just did for pick up in NY too. She is probably my all time favorite WildStorm character and I would love, love to do a series starring her...I'll keep my fingers crossed. :)

Anyhoo, see ya at the show!

It's their third year now and if the first two are any indication, then this is one's gonna be another big bash! Here are some photos from 2006 and 2007 just to give a feel for the upcoming craziness! Thankfully, the weather will be much better this year too!

And for anyone interested in setting up any commissions with the guys here, except for Jim, please feel free to drop me a line at gelatomettista@yahoo.com to get more details and prices!

Roll Out!

[Livio]

First off, the above headline is an example of the constant abuse Eddy Choi rains down on his fellow WildStormers. Whenever I leave the studio here every night, I sometimes say that I'm "rolling out"-which is an actual phrase used by normal people. However Eddy consistently accuses me of only knowing it because Optimus Prime says it.

Which brings us to this digital painting. I wanted to try and get a look reminiscent of the original Transformers cartoon and movie, meaning more linework on the characters contrasted against a looser, more painterly background. What I was going for here was to try and show just how massive Optimus Prime is- I thought of him along the lines of a huge, lumbering building. Which is why I added the flock of birds taking off from his back.

Hope everyone enjoys!

Smiles Everyone

[Oliver]

Hello again ya'lls. Here is a li'l piece that JJ Kirby and I jammed on. We started this at Wizard World L.A. and finished it last week.

I did Joker and he did Harley and we both did the backdrop. Been wanting to jam with him for awhile and we thought the two of them would be perfect for our styles and personalities.

More "jams" to come, hope u like:)

Zepol!

[Michael]

Hello everyone, I thought i'd give the gray markers a whirl this time, instead of the brown toned paper I do on a lot of my commissions, for Zatanna here. It's fun going in there with makers and makes for a quicker piece.

At first, I had her pulling the Atom out of her hat, but eventually I went with something a little more playful. It's also my first time drawing her so I hope it looks okay, hope you dig it!

See ya next time, Mike.

Dynamic Nome

[Nome]

Hey yall's, hope all is well. It's an exciting week for me, nothing really major, just that "New Dynamix" #2 dropped this week. It marks my official published sequential debut:) I only contributed 3 pages but put a lot of love into them.

I'd like to thank my friend and fellow WildStormer J.J. "The Black Noise" Kirby for vouching for me and editor Kristy Quinn for giving me a chance to show what I got. Anyhoo, pick up the issue and enjoy!
