Supergirl 4 pack

[jimlee]

Tis the season so for those of you fans or significant others of fans who are looking for the perfect gift(s)--look no further. We got some hot off the presses, gloriously large sketches for you. Lately to warm up for work, we have been sitting around doodling at lunch and since we get so many requests from fans looking to find a piece of art they can call their own, we decided why not try and put some of the sketches to good use.Hopefully, these will go to good homes rather than to dealers looking to flip them. If the latter, we will have to figure out other ways to get them into the hands of collectors and fans directly. We have been doing these as challenges in the studio with whoever is around, sitting down and jamming out their rendition of a character we all pick in common.

The first was Supergirl. The next is Wonder Woman and will be posted up as an auction Monday. After that, Batgirl on Wednesday. Not sure how long we will be doing it so make your strategic bid today! Come Christmas day, we will do one which will go FREE to a gelatometti poster who first answers 3 trivia questions. How's that for service!

Each illo is usually a mix of pencil, pen and ink with whiteout on large 11x17 board. The 4 in this batch were done by JJ JKirby, Oliver Nome, Mike Lopez and myself. What do you like or dislike about em...let us know. There's always a lot of battletalk in the studio when it comes down to style and your comments help fuel the "discussions!"

Here's the link to the current Supergirl auction here!

Cheers~!

I like so much Michael Lopez sketch.
By the way, why your pics are clickable for a bigger version, while in my blogspot is no longer possible?

Good luck keeping them out of the hands of flippin' dealers. There's nothing more discouraging for someone who likes collecting original art than seeing seeing something at a convention for $300 then seeing it for sale a month later at 3 times the price. >: (

Great stuff. Was Oliver's a take of AH!s SG cover?
Cant wait to see more.

I agree with neil...

Good luck about the dealers. If you truly wanna keep these outta the hands of the dealers, don't post 'em on e-bay.

All the art I own I've had to make very modest payments on or had to go out of my way to call in some favors as I did with the Supernatural cover I own.

Can you imagine how frustrated you'd be if you missed a 'grail' because of an internet fee of 300 bucks and then see the guy who did win it IMMEDIATELY put it up for sale/trade. That happened to me...

Thankfully I understand how things work and accept it with a grain of salt sos not to ruin my beloved hobby!!

All in all a fun blog here and can't wait for future posts!!

Thanx Jim and Wildstorm!!!

Jim? Get you and your Wildstorm pals to Pittsbugh!!

Best to all!

U guys rock. Especially like Jim's and Mike's. We gotta do lunch sometime, ya punks.

Jim's background is just soooo masterful. Controlled slop that comes together to look like it was meticulously planned out. But Jim just unconsciously sneezed it out with painterly skills and design sense of a master.
It's a great idea to get your lunch doodles to the fans and cut out the middle man.
And yes...get your Wildstorm pals to Pittsburgh. The weather is awesome with a few dozen sunny days a year, and most of all Eddie Choi loves Pittsburgh!

4 times the hotness!!

Wow... there's so much to love about each one. I personally prefer the last Supergirl design on the JLU animated series. It mixed the classic and modern designs the best.

Lopez's has a great vintage animation appeal to it. The hair and the bazookas look like they'd be great on someone like Black Canary.

Kirby's pieces are always fun! And the lines are ridiculously clean. Am I mistaken in thinkin' that he came out w/ a coloring book? If not, he should! If so, then more coloring books! lol

Nome is always the most fashionably current. Hands down. It's nice to see comic artists w/ a great eye for fashion trends and innovation.

And c'mon... Jim's piece is stellar as always. He does the most beautifullest damage when armed w/ ink and white-out. My fave.

Best o' luck against those Decepticon dealers!

Peace...
