I love this piece. I think the play off the blue works nicely and the characters really kick butt! Plus, dagger looks so beautiful :)

Frandro rocks my socks off, my vote here.

Francis,

You are rocking. You got my vote, but I do have to say that that I have much kudos to Mr. Lee.

A great battle.

Hal!

ooooo...

My vote is right here..

I like Jim's fine, but the dynamic fluidity and the little bit of perspective in Francis' background put his effort over the top.

Both pieces are amazing! This was a really hard decision, but I'm leaning over towards Francis' piece. Sorry Jim! You're still a god to me.

As cool as Jim's is with it's nice positive and negative space, I just love Francis' action shot. This one wins.

Jim's is nice...... but this one just plain ROCKS!!! Francis totally gets my vote!

I've gotta go with the Francis Manapul pic...

I like the texture, use of color, composition and perspective.

Joe Guinto said...

Oh my god! I gotta vote for Mr. Manapul. I'm just in disbelief that I like someone elses Iron Gelatomettista piece other than Jim Lee! Good work both of you.

j13 said...

I can't believe I'm voting against Jim Lee, but this one did capture the best spirit of Dagger. While I do love the textures and negative space hands on Jim Lee's. I have to give it to Francis Manapul. You've got my vote FTW!

JVC said...

Well hell yes.

Unknown said...

wish the cloak was slightly bigger but i like this. sorry jim

This one has my vote. More dynamic and the white outline makes it pop.

Awesome, Francis! Love this piece. Beautiful.

I say Francis wins this one!

Unknown said...

I'm a Jim Lee fan through and through, but Francis captured more of the essence of Dagger than Jim.

so my vote goes to Francis

Craig said...

This is the clear winner - better action, no creepy touching between the two, and the whole image says "Cloak and Dagger" better than the Lee piece.

johnchrist said...

Ok, this was really REALLY difficult, I had to laod both image side by side and jsut stare, but I think Francis has the more dynamic and exciting feel.
My vote is with Francis!

Brian Vander said...

Wow, both are great, but I have to give the nod to Francis on this one. I love the way he uses the colored paper to get the visual effect on his work. Fantastic

Wesley Riot said...

this gets my vote!

Shawn Colloton said...

I love dagger in this one. Fantastic.

Mr. Kamikaze said...

Really like the use of the colored paper.

Unknown said...

Ficky Ficky Ass Kickin'.

I think Jim's is ultimately better drawn, but this one is more fun and innovative. This gets my vote! :)

Francis, may I put up your fantastic piece on my Cloak and Dagger fansite?

Thanks!

Gotta go with Francis on this one. Love the use of the blue page colour.

Ironbody Chef said...

Hate to say it... but I like Francis' work a lot better. It's just more dynamic, and the building perspective adds a great deal to the piece.

Jim's piece seems kind of plain by comparison. Reminds me of one of Sienkiwicz (sp?) covers for the original series though.

Pep said...

Ufff! Hard decision. I like very much the Lee draw. But I'm falling in love with FJM Dagger. My vote... ¡here!

Unknown said...

This is a close one.. both are phenomenal.. I think the colors drew me towards this one but they were both equal in my book.

DariusWolfe said...

This gets my vote, too. I'm not really familiar with the source material, but I prefer Francis' rendition to Jim Lee's.

Murray said...

Francis! Francis! YEAH! Long Live the Legion! (Has nothing whatsoever to do with Cloak and Dagger, but, you draw the Legion, you get the props!)

odditycollector said...

This gets my vote - really like the sense of movement in this one!

KentL said...

Love Lee's pic, but this has a great, dynamic feel to it.

Unknown said...

my vote

WFP said...

The art that is presented is truely mind blows, like wind of the empty hall....way of my mind. That cult-E-vates thought on questions of our entreal universe, like why cloak and Dagger is poetic perfection or a play on words or maybe that Jim Lee is a good artist or Francis's works are cooler. on the scale of art and rabbits, bunnies always win but in any case of many or more cases filled with truth, Francis's art is awesome. Love Iron and the Maiden

joems said...

im a huge jim lee fan but, i like francis work better

Scott St. Pierre said...

ditto, Sorry Jim. Francis has you by the balls on this one, buddy.

dogboy443 said...

Winner! The use of the Canson paper and the mixed media wins. Jim's is a beautiful pice, but the use of technique on this one is the winner.

Mk

Unknown said...

that's really hard! my vote is for you!

Unknown said...

As much as I love Jim's work, I've got to hand it to Francis on this one.

Zack Lee said...

jim lee is one of the best out there but this one from fjm just blows everything out of the water!

Vince@Aspen said...

Good Stuff.

Patrick McEvoy said...

Great work!

syrtheone said...

Though I voted for jim just wanted to say that the fact that you added color given that this is a one hour piece is a testament to your skill; great job.

Tannerama said...

Sorry Jim. But this is one sweet action loaded piece. CAN'T WAIT FOR LEGION!

Unknown said...

This one is cool

Unknown said...

This one has my vote.
