Grifter is dead. Long live Grifter!

[Eddy]

Yesterday, the cataclysmic Captain Atom: Armageddon #9 hit stores and it asked the question, "Is this really the end?" Well, yes and no.

The issue marked the end of one era of the Wildstorm Universe, but another is rushing into stores this fall with changes both big and small. The above Grifter piece is just a small teaser, as Jim returns to the team he helped launch in the first place. And now that you've seen the end, here's the beginning:

WILDCATS - Grant Morrison and Jim Lee
WETWORKS - Mike Carey and Whilce Portacio
STORMWATCH - Christos Gage and Doug Mahnke
MIDNIGHTER - Garth Ennis and Chris Sprouse
GEN 13 - Gail Simone and Talent Caldwell
DEATHBLOW - Brian Azzarello and Carlos D'Anda
THE AUTHORITY - Grant Morrison and Gene Ha

So which title are you most looking forward to?

DEATHBLOW - Brian Azzarello and Carlos D'Anda

100 Bullets is a great comic and one of my favorites.

Carlos has a wonderfully dark and gritty style and has posted my favorite 1-shots on the blog.

WILDCATS - Grant Morrison and Jim Lee

Im ashamed to say I don't buy Wildstorm comics. Just DC rite now. But surely this is perfect time to start enjoying them with the new start to the WS universe.
Also if it wasnt for a certain bidding web page comics wouldnt be that accessible to me, I think there should be more comic shops in england. All of the Gelatometti should open their own one in england lol.

Wildcats it the one I look forward to the most. Then I would say its a tie between Deathblow and Authority. With 100 Bullets being one of my favorite books, its hard not to look forward to new stories by Azzarello.

Hmmm.

One of the first comics I picked up as a kid was Wild CATs issue 3 at Walgreens, then I sent in a Wizard-coupon-thingy to get Jim's sig on like, 4 Wild CATs issue 4s....so there's definitely a cloud of nostalgia hovering over my melon. And Morrison's writing? Sexy. Sincliar's coloring? Double sexy. You cannot go wrong with this book. Even the Great Old Ones would bow before it's ultra cool majesty.

I'm ALWAYS mostlookin' forward to anythin' w/ Jim Lee's name attached to it... so WildCATs for me most def.

I'm rootin' for Gail, Carlos, and Whilce, as well! Those are some damn fine creative teams.

Lookin' forward to the coming storm. Congrats and best of luck, WS!

all of these titles are going to rock. At first when i heard wildstorm was doing a reboot I was a little turned off because of the all the great stories and continuity would be thrown out the window, i guess i just didnt want to see an ultimate type thing with my favorite universe. But with talent like this it has reassured me and im sure to buy all the number one issues just like i did back in the day.

Wildcats and Authority, guess why!

I'm actually looking forward to all of them, minus WETWORKS. I have no faith in Portacio. He's let the audience down too many times before.

Anything written by Brian Azzarello would be of interest to me, but it's hard to ignore Jim "Gelatomettista" Lee and Grant Morrison working on Wildcats, which had some of the coolest characters created in the past 20 years. I guess it's a tie, but if I HAD to pick one....Wildcats.

Wildcats first
Gen 13 second

Jim Lee going back to Wildcats it's really something out of pure love for the characters and for comics in general; but doing it with Grant Morrison takes you on a totally new dimension. It will be a great and unexpected ride!

Good work

I'm gonna probably give them all a shot but I'm really looking forward to Deathblow, mainly because of Carlos. I love his style!

I am looking forward to ALL of the new titles. However, if I had to pick my favorite, it has to be Wildcats since it is by Morrison and Jime Lee.

Trust me. That will be the best book of the year.

I'm looking forward to all of them. I just hope the continuty is tight between the books like they were in the beginning. Look at Marvel's Ultimate Line of books. They've hardly expanded it and the continuty between the books is great.

I hate to stoop to the level of fanboyish company bias, but WildStorm is the king and it's only gonna get better this fall. Marvel and mainstream DC are just completely disappointing me these days (especially Marvel), to the point where I've stopped buying 99% of all superhero comics. The only exceptions to this rule are anything written by Grant Morrison or Warren Ellis or drawn by Jim Lee. Other than that, I don't give a crap. WildStorm hands Marvel and mainstream DC their asses.

I actually think I'm going to buy ALL of the re-launch books. I sound like a sheep saying that, but that's the most solid creator lineup I've ever seen at one time. Anywhere. Not only is that the comic book industry's greatest roster, but every creator is on the exact title that matches their talents the best. That's some amazing editorial work... every single title has the writer/artist pairing that would be most ideal for the book. It's like you reached into my head and pulled out the "best case scenario" six times.

I'm most looking forward to Grant and Jim on WildCATs, for obvious reasons. The best writer of superhero comics teaming up with the best artst of superhero comics... my expectations are high.

Keep up the good work. I look forward to going back to the comic shop in September.

Oh, and I'm a little biased myself, but I'm most looking forward to Wildcats by Grant Morrison and Jim Lee.

That's a fanboy's dream come true right there!
