He who Waits...

[Joel]

I'm a huge fan of Tom Waits...his music and storytelling are a breathe of fresh gravely air in these times. Funny thing tho, just like the Talking Heads , Pixies, and Zeppelin...I feel I caught on a little late. I've been listening to Waits music since '94, but he was already in double digits with how many albums he had out. I'm not complainin', guess it woulda been nice to enjoy the ride from the beginning of such a talented artist.

I absolutely agree, I just love "Nighthawks at the Diner".
So great!

yup...and it makes you hungry! Seriously, it's so cool how he transitioned from this smokey lounge singer into this surreal, blues, folk carnival barker. He's a national treasure for artistry and originality!

Pixies... now there's a band.

Waits... is he the one that does the "everybody knows" song?

Hey Tyldak...hmm, not sure on the song, but I'm sure the Pixies are one hell of a band! Loved the documentary on them and their reunion tour.

Sorry, I was thinking of Leonard Cohen apparently.

Another awesome artist...good stuff, Tyldak! Cohen is a legend. How come we don't have guys like that around? Anyone know of modern musicians with this kind of spirit?

I'm a bit of an old fuddy-duddy, so if there's anyone around today who is as good as the pixies were in say '89, I wouldn't know. ... actually, the Donnas are pretty good, now that I think about it... they ain't no pixies, but...
