Lee vs Coipel: You Decide!

[Eddy]

The artists: Jim Lee and Olivier Coipel.
The character: Wolverine.
The winner: Two lucky fans!

Jim and Oliver each drew Wolverine at last Saturday's Sketch-Off panel and everyone in the audience got a chance to walk away with the goods! They would also show the progress of their sketches on the overhead screen, while they answered questions too.

When they first came in the door, each fan got a raffle ticket and after Jim and Olivier finished their pieces, a volunteer passed around two boxes for everyone to pick their favorite. I don't think there was a formal count, but it looked close.

Jim and Olivier then pulled out the winning tickets and two very happy fans each had a great souvenir for the weekend!

Jim also had an Up Close and Personal with All Star Jim Lee panel on Friday too; where he talked about Frank Miller, "Image on Ice," and the Atom.

I liked when Jim shook the page under the projector to animate him. That was gold. Better than Nelvana.

I put the Q&A from Day 1 on YouTube for the hardcore fans: http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=onilpatel

Cool post. Both Wolverine's are pretty damn sweet, but I would have to go with Jim's.

Thanks for posting, sure wish I could have attended.

I prefer the way that Oliver has shown how bulky Wolverine should look.

Both are really dope! I think if Jim made his a bit more short and stocky @ the torso and if Olivier made his a bit less chunky on the lower body, both would've been on-point.

I choose Jim's, though. His Wolverine looks to be doin' somethin' other than promotin' lung cancer. lol! Disembowelment over stink chimney breath any day. ;D

Peace...

Sweetness - so glad you posted the finished sketches!! I missed most of this event in a futile attempt to get in line for an autograph downstairs that day. *sigh*

I must say, I do like Coipel's version a lot - he does look like a ball of suppressed fury.

Has anyone else spotted the Jim's artwork on a Ghost Rider t-shirt being sold at Hot Topic these days? It's pretty dope.

Yeah this is tough, but I like Olivier's a little more. His piece just has a certain mood to it, his Wolverine looks very intimidating. Maybe Jim's just needs more of a background.

Have to go with Coipel.

Diggin Jim's because I really like it when Wolverine is draw as a regular Canuck in street clothes instead of his x-men tights...

without question this one has to go to jim lee! Oliver has done well, especially when hes getting alot of votes against jim lee...but i cant stop looking at wolvies hand. it just looks out of proportion....and his waist is to thick.... Jims is perfect...Also someone stated that jim was answering alot of questions while they were drawing...so thats a very nice piece for someone who attention was elsewhere!
well done to both

Honestly I prefer Levitra design, but If I have to choose between those ones, I should say I choose the illustration done by Jim Lee, because the details are too much better. I'm sorry Oliver.
