20th Annual Dinner Auction for Clear View School

 [jimlee]

Quick heads up for those who collect comic art--I just donated a piece of art to benefit the Clear View School in Briarcliff Manor, NY. The image is pen and ink with wash and whiteout on 11x14 artboard.

Proceeds go to benefit the school which was incidentally co-founded by the late, great Harvey Kurtzman and his wife, Adele. This year, they are honoring Adele for her continued support and good work at the school, which by the way is a day treatment center for autistic and multiply disabled children. They can use every dollar we can offer so please check it out.

Below is the address; the auction starts at 6pm EST this Saturday and the charity dinner runs $100 but I do believe you can call in with a bid in advance or perhaps even during the event. I am not 100% sure but the contact person to call who can you give the info is Anna Hlotyak at 914-941-4653.

Just to make it more interesting...if the winning bid is from a regular poster here on the Metti (yes, we do keep track of who's who), I will throw in another free headshot of a character of your choice. It may take a long time for me to get to it, but I do have a list and you will get it...

So call in with your bids and inquire about other art that is being auctioned off. Apparently, there are a number of high profile names who have contributed such as Frank Miller and Terry Gilliam and Jack Davis. It's all for a great cause.

that is great piece - I love the bats in the background.

I hope it raises plenty of cheddar for the cause - wish I could buy it and then request a Superman headshot and have them framed side by side on my wall. I would need to probably sell several limbs to afford it tho. =)

I read that as "accidentally co-founded" at first, and was confused... ;-P

Cool piece. Wish I had the cash flow to bid for it, but alas, I have none. But I'll defintely spread the word, it's all going to a great cause!

I find it a bit weird that you keep track of the regular posters. I'm imagining a spreadsheet somewhere with all our names and IP addresses. Creepy and big brother-ish! I'm kidding.

Wow. Like everyone else, wish I had the cash flow. The bats in the background are a flippin' sweet addition. Why is it Batman always looks cooler when it's raining?

Jim,

This is a beautiful piece, it's great that you seem to help many different worthy organizations by contributing your art for auction like this.

I don't have the cash flow required to buy this piece, maybe someday. I do think it's cool that you guys keep track of regular posters to the blog.

Hey, what did you do to that pic you took of me at the Big Apple con on your cellphone? You took it after I told you that I check the blog out every day. I think you liked the shirt, if I recall correctly.

Carlos from Philly, see you at WWE next June.

Awesome job Jim. I'm sure this will raise alot of money, your work is always top notch.

Oh and just wandering where is the grand ultimate battle of battles, Michael Turner vs. Jim Lee in a steel cage tower of doom death match.

Great looking piece Jim. I love the bats, it reminds me of Batman Begins. I picked up the DVD and saw you in one of the bonus DVD extras, hehe. Is that cityscape NYC, Gotham or just something you plucked out of your imagination?

Amazing Work Jim. You never cease to amaze. It's great to see artists rally around great Causes, especially one started by such an influential artist to all of us.

That's one beautiful piece you got there. I'm sure this will sell just fine.

Sorry I don't have that type of $$$$$. Maybe in the future when I'm a CEO or something lol.

This institution hired and still hires individuals who molested and molests the children in their care. Giving unwanted hugs and feeling on them on their bodies sexually. The children repeatetly cry out for the adult to stop. Nothing was done. We have child molesters there. don't send your child to be raped. Warring.
