WonderCon Jam!

[Joel & Livio]

Hey all,

Joel and Livio here. We just wanted to show you our contributions to the WonderCon jam print we're doing. Above are Batgirl by Joel and Poison Ivy by Livio. We're all really excited to be jamming on these together, which in the end will include a group of DC's hottest females drawn by us as well as Eddie Nunez, Michael Lopez and some guy named Jim Lee!

We're all really excited for the con, so definitely stop by and see us at booth #1348 this coming Friday through Sunday!

See you there!

[Krb Wonder]

Here's the star of the ball. This was my first time drawing one of my favorite Titans. It was a blast.

Stay tuned for the colored version at WonderCon.

Cheers.

Lost

[Joel]

Hey all, just wanted to drop a line and remind everyone Lost Boys: Reign of Frogs trade paperback came out yesterday, so check it out at your local comic book store. It was a lot of fun working with Hans Rodionoff, Don Ho, Gabe Eltaeb, Randy Mayor, the awesome colorists of WildStorm FX, and Steve Wands. Hans was the screenwriter for Lost Boys: The Tribe, so he was very knowledgeable on the Lost Boys lore, and for someone like me who had to shake the dust off my memories of the movie it was a big help.

It was a great trip down memory lane to be able to work on this project, I had forgotten how much fun the original movie was.

Soundwave Superior

[Livio]

Hey everyone,

Just as we're settling back into work after the craziness of the New York City Comic-Con, we're about to hit San Francisco for WonderCon next week! Personally I can't wait for the show since I lived in the city for almost three years and still have some great friends there. So if you're planning to attend the show, be sure to stop by and say hello!

The above piece began as a pencil drawing that I did in anticipation for the NYC show. The original has since been sold and is now in the hands of a fellow Transformers fan. But since I really enjoyed doing the initial drawing, I wanted to take a crack at digitally painting it in full color.

This one went through some major palette changes along the way. I always knew I wanted Soundwave and Co. to be emerging from some hazy environment, and it ranged from a snow drift to black smoke before eventually settling on the colors its got now.

Hope you enjoy, and maybe I'll see some of you guys at WonderCon!

Inky fingers..

entry ricH

Didn't get to make it out to NY unfortunately...but I've been working away on a bunch of different stuff the past couple months.

I had the privilege of working with Jim on a few pieces...A really nice Trinity triptych, and a great Wonder Woman cover (along with some Ex-Machina interior pages) and I've been doing a few pieces for a friend over some Leinil Yu stuff. A really nice Venom piece and then the Halo image that's attached.

so all in all...if you're going to be busy working...might as well be over these two guys.

I won't be going to Wondercon either....but hopefully next year I'll be able to hit both conventions.

:)

you can see larger scans of all of these pieces (and a step by step for the Halo piece...here:Blasterkid

It was a crazy fun time, so thanks to everyone who stopped by! I can't wait to do it all over again next year, but our next stop is WondeCon coming up fast!

Artist's Alley, K1-K7

[Eddy]

Most of us will be flying out through JetBlue today, love the personal tv and blue potato chips, so we'll be well rested before Friday morning when the show starts.

We'll be seated in Artist's Alley, K1-K7, so hopefully, we'll see you there:

Jim Lee
Scott Williams
Eddie Nuñez
Carlos D'Anda
Joel Gomez
Sandra Hope
JJ Kirby
Michael Lopez
Oliver Nome
Livio Ramondelli
Alex Sinclair

And to answer an earlier question, Jim will also be signing at the DC booth througout the convention, along with the Comic Con's own autograph area.

Personally, I'm looking forward to hanging out with some good friends and tracking down a nice copy of Superman #32.

Raw

[Sinc']

I always love working over sketches or commissions because there's more of a rawness and/or fearlessness to that work. We as artists tend to experiment or let loose with them, including Jim--though his sketches tend to be waaaay better than most people's panel work. I use opportunities like these to try new style's or approaches to his art and this was no exception.

Last sketch we did was mostly cool tones so I thought I would do an orange moon and sky for extra drama and to pop him. I loved the Dark Knight film and that helped fuel my inspiration for this piece.

Wouldn't it be cool to see a Jim Lee DK Joker? Cough-hint-hint-cough!!
