Oh man, simply beautiful. I have to say I love the body language of Nightcrawler in Michael's piece but Jim's piece just has more appeal to me. The city scape, the Christmas Elf and Christmas Clown working together to deliver toys and the hat on Nightcrawler is awesome. Fantastic piece Jim, I think I like this one the most out of all your pieces done for the challenges.
Even the 2 pieces kick @$$, I must give my vote to Jim. His piece is much finished & tell a little story. Michael's one is awesome too but isn't finished as Jim's one & Nightcrawler should be called Bigfoot ;p
Mike Turner's Nightcrawler is pretty impressive, but Jim's picture is, I think, better overall. The Christmas theme is great, and Harley's little Ha-Ha-Ho doll amuses me no end. And the background is just spectacular. A tough choice (even tougher than the battle with J. Scott Campbell), but my vote is for Jim.
Love the X-mas theme and the little Joker looking elf was a really nice touch. I think Nightcrawler could be one being mutantly possible of delevering all the presents on X-mas with the exception of a few, but c'mon he looks like an elf perfect fall back job
jim's advantage is his familiarity with the 2 characters. i think mike's would have turned out just as great if he had a bit more time. however, my vote still goes to jim!
I also say though there needs to be a rematch and it should be Turners characters next time. This is basically having Turner draw Lee's characters, so make him draw Turners next time.
totally a clear victory for Mr. Lee... I think this piece is phenomenal. When I first heard this battle was comin' to the board, my jaw dropped -- 2 artist superpowers. But Jim has once again displayed his untouchable talent with a tight composition and a scene that truly tells a story. The city rocks, and the snow is a stroke of genius. Wow, Jim you continue to be a true inspiration. Thanks for the opportunity to witness this.
I gotta say although the Turner piece has some great dynamics and overall energy, jim's piece is just a little richer and more lush. Although it looks like he has tons of detail here it is the minimilist stroke herein that really captivate me. It is a great example of use of economic line and texturing. Absolutely splendid in my humble opinion.
Gorgeous piece... I don't think it's possible to beat Jim Lee in this type of event. No one draws that well that fast. The only other artist I've seen who can crank like that is Dave Finch-maybe you can have a battle with him next?
Aww, I was really pulling for Mike in this one, but I have to vote for Jim on this one. I go for gut feeling and don't care much if people do the theme or are anatomically correct. I just like this one better.
I get the feeling if Turner had more time my vote would have been diffrent, his Nightcrawler is BAD ASS. Alas, this is a timed even and given the circumstances, Jim owned this. Major kudos to both contestants.
Jim wins all the way, not even CLOSE! Seriously, every aspect of Jim's is GREAT, damn near PERFECT even.
Mike's is a real let-down, sorry (shows how much the color usually helps his art look better).
Still, even Mike himself could'a done a better job, I usually really dig his work, but I can't get over the overall awful layout (not like him) and especially the horrendous Nightcrawler Torso.
Kudos as usual, Jim you RULE. Mike...shame on you, dude, I know you can do better.
Don't wanna take up ALL the space, but I felt I just had to elaborate further as to why Jim's piece wins big time...
- Anatomy: check! (both characters look physically correct, and Nightcrawler's teleporting powers actually look like he just teleported)
- Dynamic composision: check! (fluid motion, both look great and they don't overlap eachother in confusing, unnatural poses)
- Actual background: check! (not only great city buildings but the snow adds a great touch to the mood and atmosphere)
- Humor: check (great Joker doll)
- Professionalism: check! Look at how polished and finished Jim's piece is compared to Mike's almost amateurish-looking piece. It's kinda sad looking at one next to the other.
- Bonus: Check! (with the Christmas theme!)
Simply put, Jim's professinalism and artistic superiority shone through, no contest. Sorry Mike.
wow...this is some crazy voting. Ill break even and even though Mike did a pretty good drawing...Jim takes it with his XMAS creativity instead of the obvious scenario of them fighting each other...no offense. Plus if you count the danm details and clean lines and cheao white out effect haha
Amazed at the detail and finish quality with Lee's.
While I think a "finished" version of Turner's would win, they each only had an hour. Lee used his skill during that hour to produce a spectacular result.
I knew Jim would blow this away. But I wouldn't ever expect for him to this amazing. I can't wrap my head around the fact that this was done in one hour. Lee wins! Lee wins!
He got the seasonal stuff, snow, the cool bamf starbust, established a sense of motion and ground plane.
Only thing that looks odd is harley's left hand.
I was really expecting more from Turner, the use of red was a nice touch but it ended up working against him. His Harley looks good, although the finer details like the diamonds are a tad bit off. (should be black dimonds left fore-arm, right upper thigh, red dimonds on her right bicep and above her left ankle)
seeing horse legs on Kurt made this an easy win for jim.
Had turner used the Giant Boxing Glove gun instead I might have voted for him.
Gotta go with the Boss, Jammin Jim Lee! Wicked sharp for only one hour. May have been closer had Michael had a little more time to polish, but then Jim's would have gotten even better as well! Jim Again!
There's no way anybody out there could beat Jim. The only small hope is to win on the composition. In this case Michael does have a very nice composition.
Thanks for the fun!
If you want to see more of Jim's pencil drawing, go pick up All Star Batman and Robin #1 that came out on Wednesday. The whole book is in pencil. Awesome!!!!
Man maybe it's just me but Jim's Harley is one of the few thank actually looks good, most people make her too voluptuous, his ia always spot on. Jim takes it.
As said Jim has a familiarity with these characters plus he added not only a Christmas theme but the city in the background. And its all polished. Don't get me wrong I love both pictures and given more time Turner may have done a lot more. But for this there is only one clear winner:
Well, both are awesome!, but had to go with Jim. The city in the background nailed it for me. Again well done both. I've watched both of you since the early image days and this was exciting to say the least!
vote goes to jim. although perhaps mr. turner's unfamiliarity of the characters played a part... but my vote goes to Jim regardles.. love the background... its been said 100000 times before, but it's amazing how you can pump out these drawings in an hour.. that goes for all of you professional artists out there!
Man, I'm a sucker for holiday cheer. If totally ignored the topic and it was just a picture of Santa Clause, I'd STILL vote for it... Actually, I'd probably vote for it more.
i'm both a jim lee mark as well as a mike turner mark but for this contest, i'd have to go with jim. overall composition is just spectacular and i love the whole christmas theme :)
while both pieces are pretty solid, i think the composition on lee's is superior. i always like when artists use frames of references in their pinups like buildings, streets, etc. and not just having the characters floating through space.
Composition is better on Jim Lee's. Sense of action and Drama is better on the Turner piece but poorly executed. Turner's mind wasn't in this. I've seen better sketches from him but maybe this was just too short a time for him. Jim Lee's mind works much faster obviously. Much more information and level of finish. Mr. Turner needs to practice this way more. It is definitely a skill that can be improved with practice. I haven't seen anything new in Michael Turner art in years but I guess if it aint broke….well, you should still be trying to improve. Mr. Lee's finished work looks nearly the same after all these years also (and really good) but I love his quick pieces. I’d like to see him experiment more. No contest here. Jim Lee has kicked butt.
Very detailed composition and nice finishing touches. Even though Michael's work has a dash of color, I think Jim won this one. Any word on Jim's schedule in Japan?

Amazing, I have to go with Lee although both kicked butt!!!! Just love the layout!!!
Maybe Jim knows the 2 characters better. My vote goes for him.
Jim wins hands down!
Holy crap, look how polished this piece looks. It's just phenomenal when you look at what he could do in one hour. Tremendous. My vote, all the way
I love the energy in Mike's, but Jim's cracks me up. My vote goes here. Thank you both!!! Well worth the wait.
I like Jim's a little better. Both pieces were awesome though.
JIM
This one brings the holiday spirit!!! HA Ha Ho (priceless)
Hard choice, though. For two points there must be a rematch in the future, please!
Even the 2 pieces kick @$$, I must give my vote to Jim.
His piece is much finished & tell a little story.
Michael's one is awesome too but isn't finished as Jim's one & Nightcrawler should be called Bigfoot ;p
This was a hard decision. But I like how Jim had use both characters and included a holiday theme in the drawing.
I love both pieces, but I gotta go with Jim's.
Wow!!
loved them both, but it has to go to jim and those quick hands of his, absolutely love the little joker doll, nice touch jim.
Mike did an amazing job too love his nightcrawler it's just jim gets so much in in so little time and the pice just looks finished praise them both.
Beautiful work! I particularly like the cityscape and the way in which you designed the teleport-smoke from Nightcrawler.
Fine work indeed!
Jim Lee!
Easy decision
-Jeremy
Just Beautiful!!!
great drawing Jim!!
my vote is yours!!
JESUS ANTONIO
Mike Turner's Nightcrawler is pretty impressive, but Jim's picture is, I think, better overall. The Christmas theme is great, and Harley's little Ha-Ha-Ho doll amuses me no end. And the background is just spectacular. A tough choice (even tougher than the battle with J. Scott Campbell), but my vote is for Jim.
no contest.
Both are amazing, but my vote has to go to Jim Lee.
No freaking contest. Jim Lee wins, hands down.
Well since Jim knows how to DRAW, and did just that, and a mighty fine piece at that too I might add, Jim this ones for you.
Sam Out-
Jim takes the entire bakery on this one.....incredible job in such a short amount of time.
Jim - any chance getting Whilce involved in a battle?
Rhandy
Uh, yeah. This one.
This one gets my vote!
Jim's version is by faaaaaar better in all aspects...
nice!
my vote is for jim
My vote goes to Jim!
This is just so clean... amazing that it was done in an hour...just flippin' amazing... My vote goes to Jim Lee
Jim did an excellent job, he gets my vote
yeah... this one goes to Jim. It's clean and looks great.
Clear victory. Jim brings it home for Wildstorm.
Gotta go with Jim here. Dig that Turner's has color, but it's unfinished in it's penciled state.
jim lee. it was a toughy. but i like jim's work too much.
Yeah Missleman Summ'd it up pretty much, exactly what I am screeming inside my house right now....
My vote definitely goes to Jim. Man! I can't believe he did this in an hour . . .
My vote goes to Jim! Amazing pic!! :D
Jim gots my vote.
Love the X-mas theme and the little Joker looking elf was a really nice touch. I think Nightcrawler could be one being mutantly possible of delevering all the presents on X-mas with the exception of a few, but c'mon he looks like an elf perfect fall back job
VOT E
jim's advantage is his familiarity with the 2 characters. i think mike's would have turned out just as great if he had a bit more time. however, my vote still goes to jim!
Clear winner, Jim Lee. Sorry Michael!
Jim.
Excelsior!!!
Wow! This only took an hour? Impressive! Lee took the best Marvel cover contest last month, and now takes the Iron Chef title.
Kudos.
I vote for Lee.
I also say though there needs to be a rematch and it should be Turners characters next time. This is basically having Turner draw Lee's characters, so make him draw Turners next time.
Great work by both Jim and Michael. I'm going to have to go with Master Lee on this one.
The winner and still champeen!! (How the heck his that spelled?)
JIM LEE!!
That is awesome!
Second to that!
Michael's pic is more dynamic but the feet are way too big and the hand holding the hammer looks really weird.
I'm surprised Jim didn't go for a more dynamic pose, but Vote to Jim!
totally a clear victory for Mr.
You're the best Jim.
I especially enjoy the Christmas theme to the piece.
Gotta go with Jimbo here...love the dynamics of Mike's piece, but Jim's has a more defined look to it.
Ryan
Jim all the friggin' way.
Hands down. Owned.
Jim Lee = The Man
Jim Lee does it again, simply amazing! =-)
That's a sweet layout. Very festive.
Like a Brian Giles homerun in PETCO, Jim knocked it out of the park!
Me and a good buddy of mine that's over at my pad are both voting for Jim.
If that pic really only took him an hour to draw, he has a lot of explaining to do for all his late books during the Image years.
Just kidding ! (sort of)
For realz, that pic is sick.
^__^
-Josh
Maaaan, I started to draw thanks to Mike, but I started reading comics by Jim.
Two amazing artists with a place in my heart (sniff!), buuuut...
...Jim gets my vote!
You did all that in an HOUR???
You win. o_o
Love Mike's piece, but Jim totally wins. It just looks so much cleaner, with more detail. Hard to beat the best, I guess.
Jim brought out his A-game. My vote's here!
Gorgeous piece... I don't think it's possible to beat Jim Lee in this type of event. No one draws that well that fast. The only other artist I've seen who can crank like that is Dave Finch-maybe you can have a battle with him next?
Amazing.. my vote goes to Jim!
Bamf!
jim wins, on harley quinn alone i have to say
Aww, I was really pulling for Mike in this one, but I have to vote for Jim on this one. I go for gut feeling and don't care much if people do the theme or are anatomically correct. I just like this one better.
Lee Wins, hands down.
Harley's Joker doll rules!!
Gotta go with Jim on this one.
D
far and away jim's wins. it's ridiculous how finished a drawing he makes in just an hour, geez.
jim. the master.
mike. still a padwan.
on no planet or alternate universe does Mike's image outclass Jim's. well played, man.
I get the feeling if Turner had more time my vote would have been diffrent, his Nightcrawler is BAD ASS. Alas, this is a timed even and given the circumstances, Jim owned this. Major kudos to both contestants.
Tyler
Wow, Jim totally took this. Awesome stuff! :)
Hands down Jim Lee for this wonderfully festive piece :D
This one definitely goes to Lee, from composition to execution, the better piece belongs to him.
I vote for Jim Lee. Just love the Joker doll.
Jim Lee--I vote you!!!
This is a wonderfully composed and polished piece--stunning when you think about the time it took to make it. Jim Lee wins, hands down.
Jim Lee knocked it out of the park as always. That Joker doll is a great touch. Fantastic work!
Jim wins all the way, not even CLOSE! Seriously, every aspect of Jim's is GREAT, damn near PERFECT even.
Mike's is a real let-down, sorry (shows how much the color usually helps his art look better).

sweet stuff
Blow's turners out of the frickin' water. Plus, I'm a sucker for the Holidays. Niceness.
Lee > Turner
Michael Turner's is more dynamic but this is so nicely finished.
both are awesome but JIM wins with having a bg! hehe
Both are really nice - my vote goes to Jim for creating such a complete looking piece in an hour but Mike gets points for the dynamics in his piece.
Can we do this every month? =)
Although I think Mike’s characters look more alive, Jims is just............mind-blowing.
If there anything Jim can't do? In an hour no less!
My vote goes to Jim
BP
oh my god that only took you an hour??
Awesome! Harley looks great!
Love the action of Turner's.
Amazed at the detail and finish quality with Lee's.
While I think a "finished" version of Turner's would win, they each only had an hour. Lee used his skill during that hour to produce a spectacular result.
LEE gets my vote.

Jim FTW
jim's piece is amazingly superior!
Jim walked away with this contest quite awhile ago. I'm voting to see his entry cross into one-hundred-land.
Jim rules! keep up the "Ghetto" style, my brother!
Gotta go with the Boss, Jammin Jim Lee! Wicked sharp for only one hour. May have been closer had Michael had a little more time to polish, but then Jim's would have gotten even better as well! Jim Again!
Sloppy hurried pencils only drawing VS a tight clean inked illustration that's a little rough around the edges, but certainly print-worthy quality....
Jim rules...what else is new? LOL
best
chuck gibson
Excellent work Jim, I like the composition, and the real sence of action!
Cool picture!
There's no way anybody out there could beat Jim. The only small hope is to win on the composition. In this case Michael does have a very nice composition.

wow, i can't even believe you can pull something like this out of the bag in an hour. hands down jim lee.
my vote go to jim...
jksumy vote goes to jim
!
I'm voting here.
My vote for Jim! The inking was a decisive point.
I like to see ink on paper.
Between the inking, the layout, and the cute x-mas Nightcrawler, I'm going with my man Jim Lee!
Sure, no contest.
So when are you going to take on Travis
in a Wildcats-themed event?
Well, both are awesome!, but had to go with Jim. The city in the background nailed it for me. Again well done both. I've watched both of you since the early image days and this was exciting to say the least!
Both are great efforts, but I will have to vote Jim on this one.
vote goes to jim. although perhaps mr. turner's unfamiliarity of the characters played a part... but my vote goes to Jim regardles.. love the background... its been said 100000 times before, but it's amazing how you can pump out these drawings in an hour.. that goes for all of you professional artists out there!

i'm both a jim lee mark as well as a mike turner mark but for this contest, i'd have to go with jim. overall composition is just spectacular and i love the whole christmas theme :)
It has to be Jim only especially because this looks more like a finished piece.
my vote is for jim lee

I am totally going to Jim Lee, here.
Great effort by both participants, but my vote goes to Jim with the more finished christmas theme drawing.
Very detailed composition and nice finishing touches. Even though Michael's work has a dash of color, I think Jim won this one. Any word on Jim's schedule in Japan?
Both look great but I'm going to give this one to Lee, great looking stuff.
